Qualifying saw Harry Dodson on pole in the V8 Toyota Lexis second and the Toyota from the deep south third. Mack qualified 4 the in the Porsche. Racing Ray took the first stint and after 20 minutes was in with a puncture that dropped them down the field, Ray drove well and they were catching up the field at the Driver swap to Steven Neville(Porsche Bridgestone Champion) and a new pair of rear tires. The pit work from the team at Motorsports Services ensured that not much time was lost and indeed Steven took the lead when The Dodson Skyline had tire issues and the Toyotas both had mechanical issues.
Mack Storey took over the Driver duties with another new set of tires and continued to extend the lead with no further problems and eventually taking the Chequered flag after six hours seven laps in the lead over the second placed Mitsubishi and the fast GT 40 from Taupo and unofficially setting a new overall laps completed record for the 6 hour race of 300 laps.
Overall victory for the Series had started at Manfield where Mack and his Son Ben had campaigned the Porsche. Early in that race a fuel pump had failed and put the car back to 19th place from the lead they had enjoyed. Again good work from Motorsport Services saw Ben take over from Mack drive solidly over the next two and a half hours bring the car back up to a 5th place finish.
The race at Taupo was to prove troubled as well with Mack starting well but having to pit early with yet again another puncture. Mack pushed the car into the lead at the 2hour mark when Ben took over the duties. Ben drove a solid race and the Hard charging Harry Dodson took the lead and extended this to the finish leaving Ben to finish second.
Motorsport Services also entered Rick Martin and Jeff Hogg in the Audi RS4 Avant and although the car showed good pace small problems hampered the results expected .At Taupo the Audi had an extended pit visit with electrical and then an Axle problem, and all this after a long night changing a clutch that had failed the day before. Pukekohe looked promising as well until a shock failed after the 2 hour mark and 20 minutes later the Audi rejoined in 19th, a sterling drive dragged the car back to 13th place in the final event at 7pm in the dark.
Peter Henry had entered his Porsche GT3 ( ex Targa car) in the events as well but a series of problems from a normally reliable car continued to plague the car from day one with clutch, power steering and exhaust problems all taking their toll Leaving Peter with a steely resolve to conquer the series next year.
This series is a hard series to win as many competitors can point out and consistency and good luck play there part as well as preparation so again thanks to all the Team Members that helped, drove, crewed, fuelled, and prepared these cars for this event and Congratulations to Mack and Motorsport Services.
